A Crystal Thought

This poem was written prior to December 21st, 2012 when the Mayan calendar expired. It was supposed to herald in the “End of the World” Needless to say the world didn’t end and I’m sitting here commenting as such.

I don’t believe anyone can predict the future. Prophecy is fun to read about in a fictional novel but is not factual. I can make 20 or 30 predictions and about half will come true and the other half won’t be remembered but I may become famous if I hit on a specific date, person or event. The last sentence of the poem says it all! The Bible tells us “for tomorrow will have enough worries of its own”

An ancient calendar expires?

Heralding the end of mankind’s desires

Ancient astronomers the heavens viewed

A potent divination the shamans brewed

They say our world’s end is near

Doom and destruction we ought to fear

The prophecies their prophets have read

In the celestial stars overhead

Meteors, disasters and plagues we sigh

Portents and omens their seers decry

Foolish foreboding predictions therein the lie

Your world ends the moment you die!
